Personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces were involved in a physical altercation in Bayelsa State during the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The incident, captured in a viral 53-second video, showed a driver of a Hilux vehicle marked “Naval Police” exchanging words with another driver. The situation escalated when a soldier approached and struck the Naval Police driver, triggering a fight.
What began as a verbal disagreement quickly turned into a full-blown brawl, with personnel from both sides exchanging punches as onlookers watched in shock.
The exact cause of the clash remains unclear as of the time of reporting. The confrontation reportedly occurred as the President was departing from an official event in the state.
During his visit, Tinubu commissioned projects and reiterated his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity. He also promised continued investment in training and equipping the military to address challenges such as insurgency and banditry.
The incident has raised concerns about discipline and coordination among security personnel, especially during high-profile presidential engagements.
