Iyabo Obasanjo Suspends Ogun Governorship Bid

Iyabo Obasanjo has officially suspended her ambition to contest in the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

She made this announcement after Dapo Abiodun and leaders of the All Progressives Congress endorsed Solomon Adeola as the party’s preferred candidate.

In her statement, Iyabo congratulated Adeola and expressed appreciation to the party leadership for giving her the opportunity to participate in the process. She also thanked her supporters for their loyalty and trust throughout her campaign.

Governor Abiodun explained that the decision to back Adeola was reached after consultations within the party and was aimed at maintaining unity and continuity ahead of the 2027 election.

Solomon Adeola, who currently serves as chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, is now positioned as the APC’s leading candidate for the Ogun governorship race.
