The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has distanced himself from ongoing political controversies in Oyo State, declaring that he is not a politician.
The monarch’s reaction follows circulating rumours alleging his involvement in a plot to impeach the state governor.
However, in a statement issued through his media aide, the claims were described as false, baseless, and misleading.
The Olubadan emphasized that traditional rulers have no constitutional authority to remove elected officials, including local government chairmen or state governors.
He further cautioned political actors and the public against dragging his name into political disputes, stressing the need to respect the neutrality of the traditional institution.
