Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote and United States President Donald Trump have been named among the 2026 edition of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, highlighting their continued impact on global business and politics.
The list, released on April 15, recognises individuals shaping global conversations across sectors including governance, technology, business, and culture.
Dangote, the founder of the Dangote Group, was listed in the “Titans” category and remains the only Nigerian featured this year.
His inclusion marks his second appearance on the TIME100 list, having first been honoured in 2014.
TIME cited Dangote’s long-term vision of building globally competitive industries within Africa, noting his investments in cement production, sugar refining, fertiliser manufacturing, agriculture, and energy.
These efforts have contributed to reducing import dependence and boosting local production across the continent.
Other global figures named on the list include Xi Jinping, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Sundar Pichai, alongside leaders in business, science, and culture.
Beyond business, Dangote was also recognised for his philanthropic efforts through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, which supports initiatives in healthcare, education, nutrition, and economic empowerment.
The recognition comes as the Dangote Group continues to implement its “Vision 2030” strategy, aimed at expanding into new sectors and strengthening its position as a global industrial powerhouse.
