A tragic incident has claimed the lives of Justin Fairfax and his wife, Cerina Fairfax, in what authorities describe as a suspected murder-suicide in Annandale, Virginia.
According to police, the former lieutenant governor allegedly shot his wife multiple times in the basement of their home before taking his own life in an upstairs bedroom. The incident occurred shortly after midnight.
The couple’s two teenage children were present in the house at the time. Their eldest son reportedly placed an emergency call to 911 following the shootings.
Kevin Davis described the situation as deeply traumatic, noting the devastating impact on the children, who have now lost both parents.
Preliminary investigations suggest the tragedy may be linked to an ongoing and complex divorce between the couple.
Authorities revealed that police had previously responded to a domestic-related call at the residence earlier in the year, although no charges were filed at the time.
Investigators also indicated that recent legal developments in the divorce proceedings may have contributed to the fatal confrontation. The case remains under active investigation.
Justin Fairfax served as lieutenant governor of Virginia from 2018 to 2022 and was once regarded as a rising figure in American politics.
