A man, Ebenezer Frimpong, has been taken into custody by security operatives in Ghana over the alleged theft of an armoured vehicle belonging to the Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region.
The incident was said to have taken place at Nkawie Market where the vehicle had been temporarily parked before it was unlawfully driven away.
According to sources, the driver had stepped away briefly leaving the engine running when the suspect allegedly entered the vehicle and fled the scene prompting an immediate alert.
Security personnel swiftly initiated a pursuit tracing the suspect along the Nkawie Mim route.
He was later apprehended near Mim during a coordinated operation by law enforcement agents.
A source within the security circle confirmed that the vehicle was recovered without any damage and has since been returned to police custody.
Frimpong is currently being held as authorities continue investigations to establish the full details of the incident.
