Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has pledged to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Fintiri made the declaration at the APC state congress held in Yola, where Hamza Madagali emerged as state chairman, while Mustapha Ribadu was elected secretary.
The governor, alongside his supporters, recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, a move that has significantly altered the political landscape in the state.
Speaking at the event, Fintiri described himself as a committed leader within the party structure, promising to mobilise support across all levels to ensure electoral success.
“I am formally declaring an onslaught to win because winning is in our DNA,” he said.
He congratulated the newly elected executives and urged them to lead with fairness, justice and accountability, stressing the need to strengthen internal democracy within the party.
“I assure you of tremendous support in the discharge of your responsibilities, while admonishing that you be fair, just and accountable to every member of the party,” he said.
Fintiri charged the leadership to focus on expanding the party’s base and ensuring victory “from the presidency down to the local government level.”
In his remarks, the newly elected APC chairman in the state, Hamza Madagali—who also defected from the PDP alongside the governor—said the new leadership was committed to strengthening the party and ensuring unity.
He commended President Tinubu for what he described as impactful leadership and pledged continued support for his administration’s policies.
Madagali also urged aspirants within the party to conduct their campaigns peacefully and with mutual respect, assuring that his leadership would guarantee a level playing field for all contestants.
He further called for loyalty to party leadership at all levels, noting that internal cohesion would be key to the APC’s success in the state.
