Alleged coup plotters to face arraignment today

The Federal Government is set to arraign six individuals over an alleged plot to overthrow the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The matter, listed as number 14 on Wednesday’s cause list, is scheduled to come up before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/206/2026, was filed by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation against the defendants.

Those named in the suit are Mohammed Ibrahim Gana (retd), Erasmus Ochegobia Victor (retd), Ahmed Ibrahim, Zekeri Umoru, Bukar Kashim Goni, and Abdulkadir Sani.

Although a former Deputy Minister of Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, was mentioned in the charge, he was not listed among the defendants and is said to be at large.

At the time of filing this report, only the sixth defendant, Sani, identified as a cleric based in Zaria, was present in court, while other suspects were yet to be produced.

Proceedings in the case are expected to continue as the remaining defendants are brought before the court.
