A female officer of the Man O’ War Nigeria, identified as Dasola Sanusi, has been killed in a suspected kidnapping attack along the Ibadan–Ago-Iwoye Expressway.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening near the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria axis, a corridor linking Oyo State and Ogun State.
According to sources, the victims—Man O’ War officers returning from an outing—came under heavy gunfire when armed men suspected to be kidnappers opened fire indiscriminately on vehicles along the route.
Despite the ambush, some of the officers managed to escape the attack zone, although several sustained gunshot wounds. The injured were rushed to a hospital in Ago-Iwoye for treatment.
Sanusi was, however, confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital due to severe gunshot injuries. Another officer, identified as Emmanuel, is currently receiving treatment, while two female officers were hospitalised after suffering trauma from the incident.
The National Public Relations Officer of Man O’ War Nigeria, Ibrahim Bello, confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
Similarly, the Oyo State Police Command disclosed that the attack was linked to an attempted kidnapping. Police operatives reportedly responded swiftly, preventing the assailants from abducting commuters.
Authorities added that victims were rescued and taken to medical facilities, though details of casualties across state lines are still being verified.
The attack highlights ongoing security concerns along major highways in southwestern Nigeria, particularly routes connecting Oyo and Ogun states, where cases of armed robbery and kidnapping have been reported.
