Bala Mohammed reveals details of meeting with Peter Obi

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has shed light on his recent closed-door meeting with former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, saying their discussions centred on pressing national issues, including economic recovery and citizens’ welfare.

Mohammed disclosed this in a post shared on his X handle on Thursday, noting that he hosted Obi at the Government House in Bauchi.

According to the governor, the meeting provided an opportunity to deliberate on Nigeria’s current challenges and explore pathways to sustainable development.

He said the talks also focused on the nation’s political environment and the need to strengthen democratic institutions.

Mohammed described the engagement as timely, stressing that dialogue among political leaders remains crucial in addressing the country’s challenges.

He commended Obi for the visit, noting that such interactions promote understanding and contribute to the development of practical, people-oriented solutions.

The governor added that both leaders agreed on the need for political actors to place national interest above partisan considerations in their decisions.

He said the meeting comes at a time of shifting political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
