Ekpo Rejects ₦100m Demand, Prepares for Legal Battle with Estranged Wife

Media personality Roby Ekpo has dismissed a ₦100 million damages demand issued by his estranged wife, Mayowa Lambe, describing it as excessive and without merit.

Through his legal representatives, TAP Legal Services, Ekpo responded to a cease-and-desist notice sent by Lambe’s legal team, which had asked him to retract statements made about her during an appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast.

In the response letter dated April 23, Ekpo’s lawyers denied all allegations against their client, insisting that his statements were based on personal experiences and what he believes to be true. They also rejected claims that his remarks were malicious or defamatory.

The legal team further argued that the issues between both parties stem from a complicated personal relationship and cannot be selectively presented to create a misleading narrative.

Addressing the ₦100 million demand, Ekpo’s lawyers described it as “excessive, unfounded, and premature,” adding that the ultimatum given by Lambe’s camp was unreasonable and not in line with standard legal practice, especially in disputes involving contested facts.

They also revealed that Ekpo possesses documentary and testimonial evidence — including communications and records — which they claim contradict several of Lambe’s allegations. According to them, this evidence will be presented at the appropriate stage in court.

The response also hinted at a possible counter-lawsuit, stating that if Lambe proceeds with legal action, Ekpo will defend himself and may file counterclaims for harassment, intimidation, and reputational damage.

In a notable twist, Ekpo’s legal team suggested that Lambe’s notice contained admissions that could be used as evidence in further proceedings, including a potential petition to authorities in the United States.

The dispute stems from Ekpo’s claims during the podcast, where he accused Lambe of deception during their relationship, including allegations relating to finances, medical issues, and her personal life.

However, Lambe’s representatives have denied the claims, maintaining that their relationship had already ended before the events referenced by Ekpo. They also stated that they possess evidence to challenge his assertions.

The ongoing legal dispute has sparked widespread reactions online, with both parties standing firm as the matter appears headed for court.
