A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dan Ulasi, has said Nigerians would feel optimistic about the country’s future if they engage former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, in personal discussions.
Ulasi made the remark during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, where he spoke on Obi’s leadership ideas and vision for Nigeria.
According to him, a one-on-one interaction with Obi reveals a clear understanding of governance and a defined plan for national development.
He said such engagements highlight Obi’s grasp of issues and his approach to addressing challenges facing the country.
The PDP stalwart disclosed that Obi had visited him several times this year, including a recent stop shortly after an engagement at Coal City University in Enugu.
Ulasi said the former governor had given him short notice before one of the visits, prompting him to invite a few prominent individuals from the South-East to join the meeting.
He, however, did not confirm any formal political alliance with Obi, noting that their relationship dates back several years.
Ulasi explained that he first met Obi during his tenure as chairman of the National Republican Convention when Obi contested for the governorship of Anambra State.
The PDP chieftain also expressed concerns over the current state of his party, describing it as divided and lacking the cohesion needed to mount a strong challenge in the 2027 presidential election.
He said internal contradictions within the party could hinder its chances, particularly in the face of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Ulasi further warned that unless the issues within the party are addressed, he may reconsider his membership, stressing the need for clarity and direction in the PDP.
