2027: Sule’s endorsement of Wadada sparks crisis, division in Nasarawa APC

Governor Abdullahi Sule’s public endorsement of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as his preferred successor for the 2027 Nasarawa governorship election has triggered serious tension within the APC in the state.

Former governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and other party stakeholders opposed the move, saying Sule acted without consultation and before party guidelines were released. Some aspirants, including former IGP Abubakar Adamu, also rejected the endorsement and vowed to contest.

While the Nasarawa State House of Assembly majority caucus backed Wadada, critics warned the decision could divide the party ahead of 2027. The controversy has also reopened debates over zoning and fairness among the state’s senatorial districts.
