Slain NYSC member’s father says soldiers told him the killing was a mistake

Sani Jimoh, father of slain corps member Abdulsamad Jamiu, says soldiers admitted his son’s death was a mistake after he was shot during a military operation in Shagari Estate, Dei-Dei, Abuja.

According to Jimoh, soldiers claimed they were chasing suspected robbers and believed someone had entered his compound. He said they told him they tried to force open his son’s room before the fatal shooting occurred.

The family has rejected the Nigerian Army’s earlier claim that Jamiu was caught in crossfire, insisting he was shot inside his room. His sister also alleged soldiers threatened her and ordered vigilantes to clean the bloodstains after the incident.

The case has sparked calls for a transparent investigation and accountability over the killing.
