JAMB extends 2026 Direct Entry registration deadline

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the sale and registration of Direct Entry application forms for the 2026/2027 academic session to May 8, 2026.

The extension, which moves the earlier closing date of April 25, is aimed at giving all eligible candidates additional time to complete their registration and participate in the admission process into tertiary institutions.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB said the decision was taken to ensure that no prospective Direct Entry candidate is excluded from the exercise.

“As part of measures aimed at ensuring that no Direct Entry prospective candidate is denied the opportunity to access tertiary education in the country, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the sale of Direct Entry application documents to 8th May 2026 from the earlier closing date,” the statement read.

The Board also announced the approval of five additional registration centres across the country to ease congestion at existing centres and improve access for candidates.

The newly approved centres include the Centre for Open and Distance Learning, Mini Campus, University of Ilorin, Kwara State; Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State; Olabisi Onabanjo University Centre 1, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State; Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, Oyo State; and Human Development Initiatives (Grace House), Iwaya, Lagos State.

JAMB noted that the Lagos centre will commence operations on April 30, 2026.

It added that all its offices nationwide, including Professional Registration Centres and Professional Testing Centres, remain open for the ongoing Direct Entry registration exercise.
