Senator Solomon Adeola, representing Ogun West, has visited former senator Iyabo Obasanjo in Abeokuta to seek her support ahead of the 2027 Ogun governorship election.
Adeola was recently announced as the APC consensus candidate by Governor Dapo Abiodun after internal consultations aimed at preserving party unity. Iyabo Obasanjo, who had shown interest in the race, later suspended her ambition following the consensus arrangement.
During the meeting, Adeola praised her maturity in accepting the party’s decision and promised inclusion for her supporters in party affairs. He assured her that nobody would be sidelined and pledged to work together for Ogun’s progress.
Iyabo Obasanjo, in response, said she had already instructed her supporters to back the APC and pledged support for Adeola, President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, and other party candidates.
