INEC updates ADC leadership, lists David Mark as chairman after Supreme Court ruling

The Independent National Electoral Commission has updated its official register of political parties to reflect former Senate President, David Mark, as National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress.

Also listed is former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as the party’s National Secretary.

The update followed Thursday’s ruling of the Supreme Court, which resolved issues surrounding the party’s leadership.

As of 11pm on Thursday, details on the commission’s website showed Mark as chairman, alongside other members of the National Working Committee, including Dr Mani Ahmad as National Treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary, and Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor as National Legal Adviser.

The apex court had earlier set aside a “status quo ante bellum” order that had maintained the existing situation pending the determination of the leadership dispute.

It also directed that related proceedings be returned to the Federal High Court for further consideration.
