Media entrepreneur and publisher, Dele Momodu, has dismissed reports linking him with a vice-presidential ambition alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, stating that he has no intention of contesting any elective office.
Momodu, in a statement shared via his Facebook page on Thursday, described the claim as misleading and urged his supporters to disregard it.
He said the report, which circulated in the form of a campaign poster, was merely a distraction.
“When I first saw the poster, I dismissed it as a joke intended to divert attention. I appeal to my friends and associates to ignore it,” he said.
The publisher added that he had no plans to return to the ballot, noting that his focus was on supporting opposition efforts to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“I am not running for any office. My interest is to support a coalition of political parties working towards unseating the APC,” he stated.
Momodu said he would rather back candidates within the African Democratic Congress, adding that the party has capable individuals who can contest elections.
His comments come amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition figures exploring coalition strategies.
He also criticised what he described as persistent attacks on Atiku, pointing out that similar alliances had existed in the past.
Momodu called for moderation in political engagements, cautioning against abusive rhetoric directed at political actors, including President Bola Tinubu.
He reiterated his commitment to supporting any candidate that emerges from his party, stressing that his priority remains strengthening opposition unity ahead of the next election cycle.
