The Taraba State Police Command has arrested a number of suspects linked to armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and breach of trust, following coordinated operations that also led to the recovery of stolen property and weapons.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah.
The command said the arrests were made in three separate cases handled by different tactical units of the police.
In the first incident, one Alhaji Hamishu Abubakar Sambo reported that armed men invaded his residence in the early hours of November 16, 2025, attacking him with cutlasses and sticks before making away with a Honda Accord vehicle, mobile phones, a television set, cash, and other valuables.
Following intelligence-led investigations by the State Intelligence Department, four suspects — Aminu Abubakar Abi (40), Aliyu Salmanu (29), Aliyu Abubakar (33), and Daniel Boniface (22) — were arrested in connection with the attack.
Items recovered from them included two cutlasses, two torchlights, a 42-inch Samsung television, and a Redmi 13 Pro smartphone.
In a separate case of alleged criminal breach of trust, a tricycle owner, Abubakar Habeeb, reported that his vehicle was unlawfully disposed of after he entrusted it to one Shamsudden Muhammad for personal use.
Police operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department tracked the suspects to Hulleri Village in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, where Ishaq Umar (23), Ibrahim Saidu, and Adamu Usman were arrested. The stolen tricycle was also recovered.
In another incident, two victims, Tanko Danladi (55) and Nmember Danladi (45), were reportedly attacked on April 26, 2026, along the Takum–Wukari highway.
The police said the suspects, Jibrin Idrisu (19) and Dahiru Ya’u Dopta (19), allegedly blocked the road with a locally fabricated firearm, a cutlass, and sticks, before dispossessing the victims of a motorcycle, cash, and a mobile phone.
Both suspects were later arrested, and the stolen motorcycle was recovered.
The Command confirmed that investigations into all the cases are ongoing, adding that the suspects would be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state, while urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies.
