A 60-year-old building materials trader has been kidnapped by four masked gunmen in the Monatan area of Lagelu Local Government, Oyo State.
According to police reports, the victim was abducted around 8:47 p.m. on Saturday while returning home along the Jinarere axis of Alakia Road. The attackers reportedly forced him into an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla and sped away.
The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that officers quickly responded after receiving the report and launched operations to rescue the victim.
Police spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, assured residents that all available resources are being deployed to secure the trader’s safe release and arrest those responsible.
The incident adds to growing security concerns in parts of Oyo State, where recent cases of kidnapping and attempted attacks have also been reported.
