Nentawe Yilwatda, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed doubts about the ability of opposition parties to govern Nigeria, citing their internal divisions and lack of cohesion.
In a statement released on Monday by his media adviser, Yilwatda argued that opposition parties have consistently failed to manage their internal affairs effectively, raising concerns about their readiness to lead the country.
According to him, the frequent movement of politicians between parties—often driven by personal ambition—has weakened opposition structures and exposed leadership deficiencies.
“They cannot organise or administer their own political parties, yet they aspire to lead a complex nation like Nigeria,” the statement said.
“Entrusting them with power would risk taking the country several years backward.”

Yilwatda also highlighted the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing its focus on transforming northern Nigeria into a major economic hub.
He said the federal government is making strategic investments in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and education to unlock the region’s potential and stimulate growth.
According to him, northern Nigeria’s geographic position gives it a competitive advantage as a gateway for trade with neighboring countries such as Niger, Chad, Cameroon, and Benin.
Yilwatda added that these initiatives are designed to boost cross-border trade, strengthen regional integration, and position the North as a key commercial center in West and Central Africa.
“The vision goes beyond politics; it is a well-thought-out economic strategy aimed at unlocking the vast potential of the region,” he said.
He expressed confidence that, within the current administration’s tenure, the North would emerge as a strong economic powerhouse driven by infrastructure development and human capital investment.
