The Senator representing Bayelsa West, Henry Seriake Dickson, has described former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, as among Nigeria’s most influential political figures.
Dickson made the remark on Sunday while receiving the duo into the Nigerian Democratic Congress in Abuja, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former Bayelsa State governor said the entry of the two politicians marked a significant moment for the emerging political platform, describing their presence as a boost to its credibility and national appeal.
According to him, the level of public interest generated by their arrival underscored their political relevance and influence across the country.
“You may not have come with a large crowd, but you both represent a crowd in yourselves, and that following is evident,” Dickson said.
He added that the NDC is positioning itself as a viable alternative in Nigeria’s political space, noting that the party has continued to witness steady growth and internal consolidation.
The development comes amid ongoing political realignments, as key opposition figures explore alliances and new platforms ahead of the next general elections.
