ADC unveils revised 2026 primaries timetable, nomination fees

The African Democratic Congress has announced a revised timetable for its 2026 primary elections, alongside new nomination fees for aspirants seeking elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party disclosed the updates in a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, following what it described as extensive consultations with stakeholders nationwide.

According to the schedule, the sale of nomination forms will hold between May 1 and May 4, while the purchase and submission of completed forms are slated for May 6 to May 13, with the latter serving as the final deadline.

Screening of aspirants will take place on May 14 and 15, with results to be released on May 17. Appeals are expected to be heard between May 18 and 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be published on May 20.

The party fixed May 21 for primaries into State Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives, and the Senate, while governorship primaries are scheduled for May 22.

The presidential primary is billed for May 23, to be followed by a National Executive Committee meeting on May 25 and a Special National Convention on May 26.

ADC also announced a review of nomination fees, pegging the presidential form at N90m, governorship at N30m, Senate at N10m, House of Representatives at N5m, and State Assembly at N2m.

The party, however, retained its concessionary policy, offering a 50 per cent discount to youth aspirants aged 18 to 35, as well as a 25 per cent reduction for women and persons living with disabilities.

Abdullahi said the adjustments were aimed at strengthening internal democracy, enhancing participation, and ensuring inclusivity within the party’s processes.

He urged aspirants and stakeholders to adhere strictly to the updated timetable and guidelines as preparations intensify for the next general elections.
