A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Seyi Makinde has unveiled its timetable and guidelines for the 2027 general elections, setting the cost of its presidential nomination form at ₦100 million.
In a statement issued by the party’s spokesperson, Ini Ememobong, the amount includes ₦10 million for expression of interest and ₦90 million for nomination. The timetable follows the approval of a 13-member interim National Working Committee tasked with managing the party’s affairs.
According to the schedule, governorship aspirants will pay ₦5 million for expression of interest and ₦35 million for nomination forms. Senate hopefuls are to pay ₦3 million and ₦7 million respectively, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay ₦2 million and ₦5 million.
For state assembly positions, the nomination form is pegged at ₦1.5 million, with ₦500,000 required for expression of interest.
The party also introduced concessions aimed at inclusion. Women are exempted from paying nomination fees, while youths and persons with disabilities will pay only 50 percent of the nomination cost.
Sales of forms will run from May 5 to May 13, with submission closing on May 14. Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 15 to May 18, followed by appeals on May 21. The list of cleared candidates will be released on May 22.
Ward primaries are set for May 27, with appeals holding the next day. The party’s National Executive Committee will meet on May 29 to approve candidates, while a special convention for ratification is planned for May 30.
This development comes amid internal divisions within the PDP. Another faction linked to Nyesom Wike had earlier released a separate timetable, fixing its presidential nomination form at ₦51 million—significantly lower than the Makinde-backed group’s ₦100 million.
