The campaign organisations of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have accused each other of orchestrating the vandalism of political billboards across parts of the state.
The Imole Campaign Council, which is driving Adeleke’s re-election bid, alleged in a statement that billboards belonging to the Accord Party and its campaign structures were destroyed in Irewole, Ayedaade, Irepodun and Osogbo local government areas. It claimed the attack was carried out by suspected APC supporters allegedly aided by compromised security operatives.
The council described the incident as part of a “pattern of politically motivated violence and coordinated vandalism” and called on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate and prosecute those responsible. It also urged election monitoring bodies and human rights organisations to take note of rising political tension in the state.
Reacting, the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council dismissed the allegations, describing them as false and politically motivated. The party claimed instead that its own campaign materials and those of its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, had been repeatedly attacked by political opponents linked to the state government.
The APC further accused the Adeleke administration of using propaganda to distract from governance challenges and corruption allegations, while insisting the ruling party was responsible for escalating political tensions.
Both sides maintained their innocence and accused the other of attempting to mislead the public ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
