Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has attended the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) following his recent defection to the party.
The meeting, chaired by the APM National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, brought together top party leaders and stakeholders.
Addressing party members during the session, Mohammed said Nigeria’s political environment had become increasingly difficult due to what he described as political intimidation and undemocratic practices affecting opposition figures and progressive movements.
He explained that his decision to join the APM came after extensive consultations with political allies, supporters, and stakeholders across the country.
According to the governor, the party’s principles of good governance, justice, inclusiveness, internal democracy, and respect for the rule of law align with his political beliefs.
Mohammed disclosed that several political office holders and former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in Bauchi State had also joined the APM alongside him.
He listed members of the National Assembly, lawmakers in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, commissioners, ward executives, party officials, and grassroots supporters among those who have moved to the party.
The governor assured the APM leadership of his commitment to supporting the party with his political experience, resources, and influence to strengthen its structure ahead of future elections.
He also announced that he has obtained the nomination form to contest for the Bauchi South Senatorial seat under the platform of the APM in the forthcoming elections.
