The Progressive Governors Forum has debunked reports alleging that the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, was removed as chairman of the forum.
The forum described the reports circulating on some media platforms as false, misleading and without any basis.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Director-General of the forum, Folorunso Aluko, said no meeting was held where such a decision was taken.
“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report alleging the removal of its Chairman, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma,” the statement read.
The forum maintained that Uzodimma remains the substantive chairman and that there was no resolution or directive removing him from office.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the report is entirely false, baseless and without any iota of truth,” the statement added.
According to the PGF, its secretariat has no knowledge of any action taken against the Imo State governor.
“The PGF secretariat has no record of, and is not aware of, any resolution removing the chairman. Senator Hope Uzodimma remains the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum,” it stated.
The forum further stressed that it remains united and committed to its responsibilities, urging members of the public and media organisations to disregard the report.
