A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by former minister Kabiru Turaki has challenged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to carry out his threat of shutting down the group’s operational office.
The confrontation follows comments made by Wike during his monthly media chat, where he questioned the legitimacy of the Turaki-led faction and warned that any office or bank supporting the group could face sanctions.
Responding to the threat, Ibrahim Abdullahi, a former PDP deputy national publicity secretary and private principal secretary to Turaki, said the faction has been operating from a known location and dared Wike to act.
“We have been operating from an office. He knows the location; he should come there and take over the office if he can,” Abdullahi said.
He explained that although the office is temporary, the faction has continued to hold meetings and conduct party activities there.
Abdullahi also warned that the deepening crisis within the PDP could push the country into political instability, describing the situation as one capable of creating “a Hobbesian state of anarchy where life is brutish, short, and nasty.”
Meanwhile, Ini Ememobong, spokesperson of the Turaki faction, dismissed Wike’s comments as “delusional,” insisting that the group already operates legitimate party bank accounts.
According to him, Wike and his allies are fully aware of the accounts being used by the faction.
“His delusional boast of dealing with banks that will open accounts for us is delusional, as he is already aware that we are operating accounts of the party,” Ememobong said.
The latest exchange highlights the growing internal crisis rocking the PDP ahead of future political.
