Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen have obtained the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed that the three aspirants had picked up the forms, which cost N90 million each.
Hayatu-Deen, while receiving his form from the party’s National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, pledged to focus on tackling insecurity, unemployment, and the rising cost of living if elected president.
According to him, Nigerians are currently battling economic hardship and growing insecurity, stressing that the 2027 election should be centred on rebuilding the economy and restoring public confidence.
He said security remains the foundation for national development and economic prosperity, adding that businesses and citizens cannot thrive in an atmosphere of fear and instability.
The ADC fixed the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms between May 6 and May 13 as preparations intensify for the 2027 polls.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and state assembly elections are set for February 6, 2027.
INEC also announced that party primaries and related disputes would hold between April 23 and May 30, 2026, while campaigns for presidential elections will begin on August 19, 2026
