Lagos PDP governorship aspirant, Prince Laja Adeoye, has officially defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 governorship election, citing the lingering leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued in Lagos, Adeoye described the move as a strategic decision aimed at keeping his political ambition on track and avoiding distractions caused by internal disputes within the PDP.
Despite his defection, the politician maintained that he still enjoys a cordial relationship with PDP leaders and members across the state, stressing that the move does not amount to abandoning the party’s ideals.
According to him, adopting the APM platform would allow him and his supporters to remain focused on preparations for the 2027 election and offer Lagos residents an alternative leadership option.
Adeoye also aligned his move with the political strategy being championed by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, noting that several opposition politicians in the South-West are embracing coalition arrangements to strengthen their electoral chances.
He further claimed that the Lagos PDP structure had endorsed the alliance with APM to prevent candidates from being affected by INEC deadlines while the PDP continues efforts to resolve its internal challenges.
The governorship hopeful said his “Better Lagos Agenda 2027,” tagged “Atunto Eko 1.0,” would focus on infrastructure renewal, affordable housing, economic growth, security, and debt sustainability.
Adeoye added that the APM remains one of the few political parties currently free from internal crises and legal.
