Ogun Stakeholders Back Akingbade for Fourth Term Bid

Stakeholders, traditional rulers, youth groups and market women across Afon town and neighbouring communities in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State have endorsed Hon. Jemili Adigun Akingbade for another term in the Ogun State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections.

The endorsement, which took place during a meeting in Afon, drew support from representatives of more than 750 villages within the constituency.

Speaking at the gathering, Secretary of the Afon Youth Movement, Samuel Ogunrinola, said the decision followed extensive consultations among community leaders and political stakeholders. He noted that the endorsement reflects the people’s desire for continuity and sustained development in the area.

Ogunrinola stated that Akingbade’s previous victories were achieved through democratic elections and not political imposition, adding that his fourth-term ambition should be judged based on his performance in office.

He highlighted several projects attributed to the lawmaker, including support for the creation of the Afon Local Council Development Area (LCDA), road projects, borehole installations, empowerment programmes and educational support initiatives.

The stakeholders also praised Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for promoting unity and consensus within the ruling APC.

In his remarks, Hon. Jemili Akingbade thanked party leaders and residents for the confidence reposed in him, promising to continue prioritising development and inclusiveness.
“Leadership is about serving the people and improving lives. I will continue to remain accessible to my people and carry everyone along,” he said.

The traditional ruler of Afon, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewanre, described the endorsement as a historic show of unity and trust in Akingbade’s leadership.

The monarch also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing economic reforms and national development efforts.

Community leaders at the event pledged to mobilise support for the APC and ensure victory for Akingbade and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
