Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), saying the party lacks a clear agenda and accessible manifesto ahead of the 2027 elections.
Onanuga, who reacted in a statement on Friday, took a swipe at former Bayelsa governor Seriake Dickson, describing the NDC as a platform for “politically displaced and desperate” politicians.
His comments come amid growing attention surrounding the NDC following reports that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso recently aligned with the party after leaving the ADC.
According to Onanuga, the NDC has failed to present any concrete plans for governing Nigeria, arguing that the party is not different from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The presidential aide said he visited the NDC’s website on multiple occasions in search of the party’s manifesto but was met with the message: “No document found.”
He questioned how a party preparing for an “ideological battle” in 2027 could still lack a publicly available manifesto months after securing registration.
Onanuga also dismissed the policy directions currently displayed on the party’s website, describing them as vague political talking points similar to ideas repeatedly promoted by Peter Obi in recent years.
Despite his criticism, the presidential spokesman said he still looks forward to seeing the NDC unveil a detailed vision and policy direction for Nigeria ahead of the next general election.
