Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed retired Major General Adeyinka Fadewa as Special Adviser on Homeland Security.
The appointment was announced on Monday in a statement issued by Chris Ugwuegbulam, head of information and public relations at the office of the secretary to the government of the federation.
According to the statement, the appointment reflects the administration’s effort to strengthen internal security coordination, intelligence-driven operations and inter-agency collaboration against emerging security threats across the country.
Fadewa, a retired military officer with more than three decades of experience in intelligence and counter-terrorism operations, previously served as Principal General Staff Officer to the National Security Adviser between 2015 and 2021.
During his time at the Office of the National Security Adviser, he reportedly led the establishment of the Intelligence Fusion Centre, a multi-agency intelligence platform involving the Defence Intelligence Agency, National Intelligence Agency, Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces.
After retiring from active service, Fadewa became a senior research fellow at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja, where he contributed to policy research and national security discussions.
The presidency said Tinubu is confident the retired general will support efforts to improve intelligence integration, homeland security coordination and proactive risk management under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
