The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has disqualified more than 20 aspirants seeking to contest the 2027 State House of Assembly elections under the party’s platform.
The development followed the release of the report of the party’s State Assembly Screening Committee ahead of the APC primaries in the state.
According to the committee, the affected aspirants were screened out for allegedly failing to comply with provisions of the party’s constitution and established guidelines for the exercise.
The report, jointly signed by the committee chairman, Dr Auwalu Ishiye, and secretary, Barrister Tijani Abdullahi, urged affected aspirants to accept the outcome of the screening process in the interest of party unity.
The committee also called on party members to remain committed and united as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.
Among those disqualified are Shio Keghnen Ephraim (Katsina-Ala East), Smith Enyi (Oju II), Uhimbir T.T. (Makurdi South), Isaac Aondohemba Kyan, Dugha Mark (Gboko East), Adikpe Ojoi (Oju I), and Victor Johnson (Okpokwu).
Others include Iyua Samuel (Makurdi South), Varvar Titus (Ukum), Ubii Abraham (Gboko West), Mannaseh Kwaghlu, Elias Odoba (Apa), Iorshase Barnabas (Gboko West), Nyitse James (Ukum), and Willaum Terhide (Buruku).
Also listed were Adakole Sale (Agatu), Obor Onor (Oju II), Odeh Aaron (Oju II), Tamenor Emmanuel (Makurdi South), Kundan David (Buruku), Iko Benjamin (Buruku), Anyor Justice (Kwande West), Richard Saidu (Ukum), Andrew Tyonongo Mbagwa, Timothy Cherem Tiev, Akumbur Peter (Gboko West), Nyiongu Innocent (Makurdi North), Terkula David (Katsina-Ala West), and Sebastin Ugba (Gwer West).
The APC leadership in the state maintained that the screening exercise was conducted in line with the party’s internal regulations and electoral procedures.
