Caleb Mutfwang has announced a ban on night grazing and night mining activities in parts of Plateau State following renewed deadly attacks in Barkin Ladi and Bassa local government areas.
The governor made the announcement on Tuesday during a visit to affected communities, where several residents were recently killed in attacks linked to insecurity and mining disputes.
Mutfwang sympathised with victims, widows and survivors, assuring residents that the state government would strengthen security measures and ensure justice for those affected.
According to the governor, all mining activities in the state must now end by 5pm daily as part of efforts to curb insecurity. He also banned underage children from herding livestock and warned that parents and livestock owners would be held responsible for violations.
The governor praised security operatives for preventing the violence from spreading further but warned that any officer found collaborating with attackers would face investigation and sanctions.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting attended by community leaders, religious figures and youth representatives, Mutfwang vowed to bring perpetrators of violence across the state to justice.
“Every life in Plateau is important and deserves protection,” he said.
He also assured farmers of improved security ahead of the farming season and promised support through subsidised fertiliser distribution.
