A House of Representatives aspirant from Kaduna State, Abin Al’ajabin Zazzau, has spoken about the humiliation and insults he says he has suffered because of politics and his physical appearance.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Radio France Internationale Hausa, the 30-year-old politician said he had endured years of ridicule, public embarrassment and attacks directed at both him and his family while pursuing his political ambition.
“For political reasons, my dignity has been violated. I have been humiliated and deprived because of the creation Allah made for me,” he said.
Zazzau, who is contesting to represent the Sabon Gari/Fada Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said there was hardly any political step he took without facing insults and disrespect.
Despite the criticism, he said he remains committed to contesting because of his desire to reform the constituency and help young people involved in gangs and social vices.
According to him, many youths in the area need empowerment and opportunities rather than temporary handouts.
“What people need is to be shown a way to earn a living — to be taught how to fish, not just be given fish,” he said.
The aspirant also lamented what he described as years of poor representation and underdevelopment in Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, despite its economic and industrial importance to Kaduna State and Nigeria.
He noted that the constituency hosts industries, textile companies, institutions and Ahmadu Bello University, yet many communities still lack adequate development.
Zazzau further revealed that he had initially attempted to contest for the seat during the 2023 general elections but later stepped aside after appeals from political stakeholders.
