The Nigeria Democratic Congress has pegged its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms at N60 million ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party disclosed this in its official timetable released on Tuesday, outlining fees, screening procedures and schedules for aspirants seeking elective positions under its platform.
According to the timetable jointly signed by the National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, governorship aspirants will pay N30 million, while candidates for Senate, House of Representatives and State Houses of Assembly will pay varying amounts.
The party said the sale of expression of interest forms for all elective offices would commence on May 13 and close on May 18, 2026.
It added that screening and interviews for aspirants would hold between May 19 and May 21 before the commencement of nomination form sales from May 21 to May 23.
The NDC stated that completed nomination forms must be submitted on or before May 25, while appeals arising from the screening exercise would be entertained on May 25 and 26.
According to the timetable, primaries for various positions are scheduled for May 27 and 28, while the party’s presidential primary election will hold in Abuja on May 29, 2026.
The party explained that governorship primaries would take place at the local government level, while aspirants seeking State House of Assembly seats would be screened in their respective states.
It added that screening for National Assembly and presidential aspirants would be conducted at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
“The party remains committed to a transparent and democratic process that guarantees fairness, inclusiveness and internal democracy in the conduct of its primaries,” the statement read.
The NDC also announced plans to adopt the open secret ballot system during its primaries to enhance transparency and credibility.
Under the approved fee structure, presidential aspirants are expected to pay N20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N40 million for the Nomination Form.
Governorship aspirants will pay N10 million and N20 million respectively for both forms.
Senatorial aspirants are to pay N3 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N5 million for the Nomination Form, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay N2 million and N4 million respectively.
For State House of Assembly seats, aspirants are expected to pay N1 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N1.5 million for the Nomination Form.
The party noted that its nomination fees remain among the lowest charged by major political parties in the country.
It also announced concessions for women and persons living with disabilities, stating that female aspirants would pay 50 per cent of the approved fees, while persons living with disabilities would enjoy a 75 per cent waiver across all categories.
The NDC added that the measures were part of efforts to ensure inclusiveness and produce credible candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
