The management of Osun State University has officially presented the instrument of appointment to the Group Managing Director of BOVAS & Company Ltd, Mrs. Victoria Samson, as the new Chancellor of the institution.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Odunayo Adeboye, presented the appointment letter on behalf of the Osun State Government and the university’s Governing Council during a visit to the company’s headquarters in Ibadan.
According to Adeboye, the appointment reflects Samson’s achievements in business leadership, philanthropy, and contributions to national development. He noted that the university believes her experience and leadership will help strengthen the institution’s academic growth and international reputation.
Reading from the appointment letter signed by Ademola Adeleke, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the appointment took effect from May 10, 2026, for an initial five-year term.
The letter explained that, as Chancellor, Samson would serve as the ceremonial head of the university while providing moral, strategic, and inspirational support toward achieving the institution’s vision and long-term development goals.
Adeboye also revealed that the university would soon announce a date for her formal investiture ceremony.
He praised Governor Adeleke for promoting merit and competence in appointments within the university system and the state at large, adding that the governor had consistently encouraged the institution to appoint individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to its growth without political interference.
Responding, Victoria Samson expressed appreciation to the state government, the university management, and the Governing Council for the confidence reposed in her. She described the appointment as a great honour and pledged her commitment to supporting the continued development and progress of the university.
