Presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has declared that he will not step down for any other contender ahead of the party’s 2027 presidential primaries.
Hayatu-Deen said Nigeria urgently needs competent and visionary leadership to address the country’s economic struggles, insecurity, unemployment, and worsening living conditions.
Speaking on his chances against political figures such as Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi, the ADC aspirant stated that every qualified Nigerian has the constitutional right to contest for elective office.
According to him, the country has suffered from poor leadership since 2007, leading to inflation, insecurity, and declining standards in education and healthcare. He compared Nigeria’s situation with countries like Rwanda and Ghana, which he said recovered from difficult periods through disciplined governance.
Hayatu-Deen said he possesses the experience and practical ideas needed to help rebuild the country and improve the welfare of Nigerians regardless of ethnic or religious background.
He also pledged loyalty to the ADC, stressing that he would support whoever emerges as the party’s presidential candidate if he loses the primary election.
“Whoever emerges as the candidate will have my full support. I will stand behind that person and work with the party to ensure victory at the polls,” he said.
The presidential hopeful further urged opposition parties to cooperate where necessary to provide credible alternatives for Nigerians while ensuring leaders remain accountable to the people.
