APC Adopts Emir of Daura’s Son as Consensus Candidate for Zango/Baure Reps Seat

The All Progressives Congress has reportedly adopted Daha Umar Farouk, son of the Emir of Daura, as its consensus candidate for the Zango/Baure Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming House of Representatives election in Katsina State.

The development followed consultations among party leaders and stakeholders within the Daura political bloc, as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.

According to reports from party sources, the consensus arrangement is expected to replace the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, Hon. Sani Lawal, who was said to have rejected the outcome of the process.

The move has generated mixed reactions among party supporters and political observers, with some stakeholders expressing concerns over alleged candidate imposition and the growing use of consensus arrangements instead of direct primaries.

Although the Katsina APC chapter has yet to issue a detailed official statement, insiders within the party confirmed that consultations and agreements among stakeholders paved the way for Daha Umar Farouk’s emergence as the preferred candidate.

Political analysts say the latest development could reshape alignments within the constituency as reconciliation efforts and negotiations continue ahead of the party’s primaries.
