The All Progressives Congress has disqualified 14 aspirants from participating in its House of Representatives primary elections following the party’s screening exercise.
In a statement signed by Felix Morka, the ruling party said the affected aspirants failed to secure clearance in line with the party’s internal guidelines and nomination procedures.
Among those disqualified are:
1.Adefisoye Tajudeen — Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Ondo State
2.Olusegun Victor Ategbole — Akoko South-3.East/South-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State
4.Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo — Akoko South-East/South-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State
5.Arowole Ayodeji Samuel — Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Ondo State
6.Morufu Tosin Ibrahim — Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State
7.Oseni Oyeniyi — Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State
8.Olaleye John Adedipe — Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency, Ondo State
9.Bashir Ibrahim Bello — Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, Bauchi State
10.Idu Igariwe — Afikpo-Edda Federal Constituency, Ebonyi State
11.Sanni Salau Ogembe — Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency, Kogi State
12.John Azubuike Opara — Port Harcourt Federal Constituency, Rivers State
Anderson Allison Igbiki — Okrika/Ogu/Bolo Federal Constituency, Rivers State
13.Awaji Imombek D. Abirite — Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency, Rivers State
14.Boma Goodhead — Asari-Toru/Akulu-Toru Federal Constituency, Rivers State
The party did not publicly disclose the reasons behind the disqualifications but maintained that the screening process followed established party procedures.
The development has sparked reactions in several constituencies, especially in Ondo and Rivers states, where some of the affected aspirants are considered influential political figures with strong grassroots support.
Political observers say the outcome of the screening may trigger fresh negotiations, alliances, and consultations ahead of the APC primaries nationwide.
