Abdul Hamed Salawu, popularly known as “Dullar,” has withdrawn from the House of Representatives race for the Somolu Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress.
In a statement reported on Saturday, Salawu said his decision followed consultations with political stakeholders, associates, and supporters across the constituency.
He explained that the withdrawal was made in the interest of party unity and political stability in Somolu, urging his supporters to remain calm and continue to support the party’s broader goals.
Salawu also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and praised President Bola Tinubu for what he described as disciplined and progressive leadership focused on national interest over personal ambition.
He accepted the decision peacefully, without protest, and called on other aspirants to show similar understanding when political outcomes do not favour them.
His withdrawal comes amid ongoing APC primary elections across states, where internal negotiations, consensus arrangements, and direct primaries are shaping candidate selection ahead of the 2027 general elections.
