Confusion and frustration disrupted the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary election in parts of Ondo State on Saturday after party officials allegedly failed to commence the exercise at Ward 1 in Arogbo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area.
Party members and prospective voters who arrived at the designated voting centre early in the morning reportedly waited for hours without accreditation or voting taking place.
Eyewitnesses said tension began to rise among supporters after repeated delays and the absence of electoral officials responsible for conducting the primary.
According to a source at the venue, two APC officials eventually arrived at the centre but allegedly departed shortly afterwards without initiating the exercise or addressing party members on the situation.
The development reportedly left many supporters stranded and uncertain about the fate of the primary election in the ward.
The source added that after waiting for nearly two hours without any clear direction from party officials, several disappointed members gradually dispersed from the venue.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, who were reportedly present to observe the process, were also said to have expressed dissatisfaction over the failure to commence the exercise.
The incident sparked anger among party faithful in the area, with some members criticising the handling of the primary process and describing the situation as embarrassing.
The APC is conducting its House of Representatives primaries across Ondo State to determine candidates for the forthcoming general elections.
