The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has directed hotels, event centres and other public facilities in Abuja to deal only with political party leaders recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to Nyesom Wike, the administration said the directive is part of efforts to strengthen security and prevent illegal groups from using public facilities to disrupt peace in the nation’s capital.
The FCTA warned that owners of hotels and event centres must verify the legitimacy of groups seeking to use their venues, especially during the political season, and keep proper transaction records.
According to the administration, any facility used by illegal organisations risks sanctions, including the revocation of title documents.
