The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six persons in connection with the alleged fraudulent sale and transfer of three heavy-duty trucks valued at over ₦71 million.
The command said the suspects were apprehended in Ibadan, Oyo State, following an intelligence-driven operation carried out by operatives attached to the Fagun Police Division.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the investigation began after a complaint was lodged on May 22, 2026, by an Ondo resident, Mr Paul Aderemi.
According to the police, Aderemi alleged that three trucks he purchased in May 2025 and entrusted to one of the suspects for safekeeping were allegedly sold without his knowledge or authorisation.
Preliminary findings revealed that the vehicles, consisting of a low-loader truck, a tipper truck and another truck, were estimated to be worth about ₦71 million.
The police said the principal suspect, identified as Adeola Kolawole, was arrested during the investigation, while information obtained from him led detectives to five other suspects believed to have played roles in the alleged transaction.
The additional suspects were identified as Alhaji Gani Bello, Oladoja Akeem, Wasiu Adigun, Azeez Yusuf and Ojo Mudasiru.
According to the command, all six suspects have made statements to investigators regarding their alleged involvement in the matter.
The police added that efforts were ongoing to recover the vehicles and determine the full extent of the alleged fraud.
It stated that the suspects would be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Felix Ohagwu, praised the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command’s resolve to combat criminal activities across the state.
He also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information capable of aiding crime prevention and law enforcement efforts.
