A female member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has died after being struck by a Mercedes-Benz C-300 at the NYSC Bus Stop in Igando, Lagos, in a lone-vehicle accident.
The driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the crash.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the tragic incident, stating that the woman was on her way to a church service at MFM, Igando, when she was hit while using the designated pedestrian walkway.
Circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s sudden veer into her path remain under investigation.
LASTMA officials said operatives along the Igando axis responded promptly, securing the area, regulating traffic, and activating emergency protocols to prevent further incidents.
The abandoned vehicle was later recovered through a joint operation with the Nigeria Police Force, Igando Division, restoring normal traffic flow.
The incident sparked grief at MFM Church, where the deceased’s husband had already arrived for service when news of the accident broke.
Church members and the victim’s husband reportedly proceeded to the scene, where her remains were respectfully conveyed for necessary rites.
The police have taken over investigations, with authorities expected to determine the exact circumstances and bring the fleeing driver to justice under existing traffic and criminal laws.
Reacting to the tragedy, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and the MFM community.
He urged motorists to observe traffic regulations, respect pedestrian rights, and exercise caution to prevent similar tragedies.
