The Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba has opened an investigation into the unexplained death of two Nollywood production crew members whose bodies were discovered inside a vehicle at a filming location in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.
The victims were identified as Godstime Imeh, a lighting specialist and founder of GeeTee Light, and Walter Odediran, a video director widely known in the industry as Director Carrinqton.
The two men were reportedly found lifeless on February 7, 2026, inside Imeh’s parked car within the premises where a movie project directed by former Big Brother Naija star Boma was being filmed.
Sources familiar with the production disclosed that both crew members had arrived at the location early to set up lighting equipment for the day’s shoot.
After completing their assignment later in the morning, they allegedly remained inside the tinted vehicle while awaiting further instructions from the production team.
It was gathered that breakfast comprising yam and omelette was delivered to them around late morning.
Concern reportedly grew among colleagues when repeated phone calls to the pair went unanswered, leading to the discovery of their motionless bodies later in the evening after filming activities ended.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Kola Odediran described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that his younger brother maintained a close professional relationship with Imeh and frequently collaborated with him on movie productions.
He explained that the crew had earlier prepared for a hospital-themed scene scheduled to be shot at Evercare Hospital before deciding to take a break inside the vehicle, adding that they were last seen alive shortly after receiving their meal.
The family further expressed dissatisfaction with the initial handling of the report at Maroko Police Station, stating that the matter was later escalated to SCID, where it was classified as an unnatural death and subjected to full investigation, including autopsy procedures.
Police authorities confirmed that investigators have questioned key individuals connected to the production, including the film producer, the food vendor, the crew member who delivered the meal and officials of the hospital linked to the shoot.
Security sources disclosed that investigators are examining several possible factors, including environmental conditions, possible ingestion of substances and mechanical issues such as fumes from industrial generators reportedly located above the parking space.
Forensic processes, including toxicology tests, autopsy examination, vehicle assessment and CCTV analysis, are ongoing as authorities work to establish the exact cause of death.
The police added that no possibility has been ruled out pending the outcome of laboratory findings.
Kola Odediran said the incident has left the family in deep grief, describing the loss as devastating, especially as the deceased was the youngest member of the family.
