Lagos DSVA seeks contact with woman over viral assault video

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Lagos DSVA seeks contact with woman over viral assault video.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has initiated moves to trace and support a young woman who recently alleged in a viral TikTok video that she was sexually assaulted by a neighbour.

The agency, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said it was aware of the video that sparked widespread reactions across social media platforms, with many users calling for immediate intervention.

According to the statement, the agency has begun making attempts to reach the woman through accessible communication channels to offer necessary assistance and determine her exact location for prompt action.

The DSVA noted that it had received several notifications and tags concerning the video and was treating the matter with urgency.

In the footage shared online on Monday, the visibly distressed woman narrated her experience and spoke about the emotional toll of the incident, indicating that she was taken to a hospital by a friend following the development.

Without delving into specific claims, the agency reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s firm stance against domestic and sexual violence, emphasising that survivors are entitled to protection, psychosocial support and access to justice.

It also appealed to members of the public who may have useful information that could assist in establishing direct contact with the woman to reach out via its official platforms and helplines.

The agency assured residents that cases of abuse are handled discreetly and promptly, pledging to provide updates as efforts to reach the alleged survivor continue.
