Former Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Elisha Abbo, has surrendered self to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja for investigation following allegations that he raped a 13-year-old secondary school student.
The parents of the victim told journalists that Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani), a former governorship candidate in Adamawa State, attempted to settle the matter by showing up in their home to plead with them against making the scandal public. They also revealed how Abbo had sent money to the girl’s father multiple times in his bid to suppress the matter.
As of press time, the former lawmaker remained in custody at the FCID.
This is not Abbo’s first brush with controversy. In 2019, he was arrested after a viral video showed him assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop in Abuja. More recently, he faced allegations of blackmail involving a married woman and an alleged sex tape.
According to family sources, the latest alleged assault took place on June 29, 2025, at Abbo’s residence in Katampe, Abuja.
