Auto crash kills four women, leaves 26 others injured

Tragedy struck on Monday evening as four women lost their lives and 26 others sustained injuries in a road accident along the Yola–Mubi highway in Adamawa State.

The victims were said to be travelling to Demsa for the annual convention of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria when the vehicle conveying them veered off the road and overturned.

The Deputy Chairman of Song Local Government Area, Donan Prambe, who witnessed the crash, disclosed that the women were members of LCCN Simra in Dunen town and were heading to the church gathering at the time of the incident.

According to her, she was driving behind the bus when it suddenly lost control and somersaulted into a nearby bush.

The injured and the bodies of the deceased were later conveyed to the Specialist Hospital in Yola for medical attention.

When contacted, the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr Dauda Wadinga, said medical teams were working to stabilise the survivors but declined further comments.

As of the time of filing this report, the police in the state had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
